Pensioners Market in Vaal Bank

A few months ago I went with a friend about two hours northeast to a small town called Vaal Bank. A Peace Corps Volunteer lives and works there and invited us up to visit her monthly pensioners market. I jumped at the opportunity to get out of Pretoria and see how the PCVs here in South Africa live!

The market was tiny, but very interesting to walk around in. People were very gracious and friendly and for the most part were interested in having their pictures taken.

I bought some fabric and spicy pickled cabbage (kind of like kimchee), which was delicous!

Below is a picture of the PCVs house. It was nice, similair to some of our houses in PC Uganda back in the day. It was fun to visit and relive some of my old Peace Corps memories!
