Pilanesberg National Park

A few weeks ago I posted some pictures of my feathered friends from our recent visit to Pilanesberg National Park. In that post I alluded to some elephants, well here they are!

We first saw the huge herd of elephants from afar. They were over 50 of them and they were making their way to the lake in the middle of the park. We stopped for a while and watched them, thinking we would not get any closer. A couple hours later as we made our way to the bird blind on the lake we ended up in the middle of them! It was quite impressive, they were stopped on the side of the road, the big guys in the front, swaying back and forth, trying to decide if they should cross. As soon as we backed the car up a few meters, off they went. About 30 crossed the road just in front of us!

From the bird blind we saw the stragglers, the ones that stayed behind to play in the water a bit longer. It was so fun to watch them! The little one really wanted to lead the way to catch up to the others!

The elephants were definitely one of the highlights of the day, but we saw lots of other animals as well!

We ate lunch in the park overlooking a watering hole. The giraffes were visiting at the moment which made for a really fun lunch! Piper had a lot of fun watching the giraffes, there was lots of pointing and "mmmm mmmm mmmm" sounds.

Heeeee little cutie!! So she drove you guys there? Impressive.

I love the elephants. I know they are large and can basically squish humans easily, but for some reason I think they are also so cute!

Love, love your photos! So awesome! Miss you guys!
