Cape Point and Boulders Beach

While in Cape Town with my parents we spent a day exploring the Cape Peninsula. What a beautiful place! And the weather really cooperated with a lovely fall day.

We slowly meandered down the western coast, past the beautiful towns of Camps Bay and Hout Bay, loving the views from Chapmans Peak Drive, all the way south to the Cape of Good Hope, the south-western most point of Africa. Paul, my dad and I hiked up the point to get the views from above. Mom stayed with Piper down at sea level.

Back at sea level we waited in line for our turn for pictures documenting we were there!

We continued our drive back up the eastern side of the peninsula and made sure to visit the penguins at Boulders Beach, which is one of only two penguin colonies on the entire African continent. We visited the other one, at Betty's Bay, last year.

The two colonies are quite different from each other, the other being much more rocky, but it seemed to have a lot more penguins. Although this colony had babies at this time of year!
