A Morning at the Botanical Gardens

A couple weekends ago, Paul, Piper and I went to check out the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens outside of Johannesburg. (Walter Sisulu was one of the leaders of the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa). The Botanical Gardens are AMAZING! Large, spread out and very well maintained, with a very nice little cafe for brunch overlooking a playground, which eventually Piper will be big enough to use. Until that time, she was quite happy to walk around and explore.

The Botanical Gardens has a resident pair of Verreaux Eagles that nest over the waterfall. We saw them from a distance, but no good pictures.

These Botanical Gardens have definitely become one of my favorite nearby places to visit. I'm looking forward to a nice, spring day, we'll take a picnic and the tent for Piper to nap in and we'll just relax and spend the day bird watching and enjoying the beautiful grounds!
